Showpiece fragrant shrub roses thrive in most climates and soil types but perform best in well-drained, crumbly garden soil enriched with organic matter. Once established, they become tolerant of drier conditions with routine watering, making them a hardy and rewarding choice for your garden.
While drought-tolerant once established, Showpiece roses need deep, thorough watering when first planted and regular watering during dry spells. For strong growth and abundant flowering, apply a controlled-release rose fertiliser in early spring and late summer—one to two handfuls gently worked into the surface soil around the base of the plant.
The Showpiece series is naturally very disease-resistant, meaning routine chemical spraying isn’t necessary—only apply if needed. As for insect pests, they are rarely an issue, so treat only if needed.
To keep your Showpiece roses blooming at their best, prune them back hard each winter or early spring, cutting them to 25–30cm above the ground. This encourages maximum flowering in late spring and summer.
