Delizia

(BARdeli) Delizia is a lovely 2023 introduction from Italian breeder Rose Barni. It can be used as a ground cover rose, but has a habit that allows it to also be trained as a low climber. This allows for a range of uses, and it would look fantastic cascading over a retaining wall.

This rose produces clusters of double, cupped blooms with a light, sweet scent. Blooms are a bright, deep pink with mauve shading, which is unusual for a ground cover rose. The name means delight in Italian, and bees certainly seem delighted by its open bloom form.

Delizia’s luminous flowers make for an effective border, and are also a lovely addition to cut flower arrangements, so you can also enjoy them inside your home. This rose blooms repeatedly in flushes from spring to late autumn, providing a long season of interest in the garden.

Delizia features glossy dark green foliage and is a very healthy rose. It makes a great choice for those looking for an easy-care rose that still packs a colourful punch.

The Australian National Rose Trials recognised Delizia in 2021, awarding it a Certificate of Merit.
