Paeonia lactiflora 'Festiva Maxima'  -  Herbaceous Peony

'Festiva Maxima' is an enduringly popular herbaceous peony that has been gracing gardens for over one hundred and seventy years. It was first introduced in 1851 by the French plant breeder Auguste Joseph Miellez.

Its white double blooms are very large, averaging 22 cm in diameter. These flowers are globular, with loosely arranged petals, and usually feature a few central petalodes that are splashed, streaked or edged with carmine-red.

Very floriferous, producing good tall flower stems that rise above large leaved, dark green foliage. Good for cutting, lasting fairly well in the vase and with sturdy but not rigid stems.

'Festiva Maxima' has truly stood the test of time, proving its merit with lasting popularity. It is a worthy addition to your garden.
