Additional Information

Agapanthus 'Streamline'

'Streamline' is a compact, free-flowering dwarf agapanthus producing a continuous succession of delicate light blue, pastel-striped flowers over an extended season. Growing to 30–50 cm, it sits noticeably smaller than standard agapanthus and is more refined in habit than 'Baby Blue', with neat strap-like evergreen foliage that stays tidy year-round.

Well suited to the front of borders, rockeries, and sunny pots on a patio, 'Streamline' is a reliable performer — tolerating coastal exposure, periodic drought, and a wide range of soils with equal ease. Mass it along a path for a river of soft blue, or use it as a compact edging plant that returns faithfully each season.

  • Mature height: 30–50 cm
  • Mature width: 50 cm
  • Light needs: Full sun for best flowering. Tolerates light shade but produces fewer blooms

Care Guide

  • Water: Water regularly during summer, especially while establishing. Once settled, 'Streamline' handles dry spells well — reduce watering over winter.
  • Soil: Well-drained soil. Tolerates a wide range including sandy and clay soils, provided drainage is adequate. Avoid waterlogging.
  • Feeding: Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring. A light compost top-dressing helps maintain vigour.
  • Pruning: Remove spent flower stems and any tatty leaves at the end of winter. Divide congested clumps every 3–5 years to keep flowering strong.
  • Difficulty: Very easy. Exceptionally hardy — tolerates coastal conditions, dry spells, and periods of low attention.
