× Digiplexis 'Flamingo' – Hybrid Foxglove

'Flamingo' is an intergeneric cross between hardy Digitalis and tender Isoplexis, pairing the upright spire of a foxglove with the tubular flower shape and long season of the Canary Island parent. Tall spikes of rosy pink flowers rise from a basal rosette of glossy dark green leaves. The flowers are sterile, so the plant puts its energy into new spikes rather than seed, and flowering runs from late spring until frost.

Grow it in fertile, free-draining soil with steady water through the flowering season. Unlike a common foxglove it is not biennial and does not die after flowering. Its sibling 'Berry Canary' has been growing in our garden at Eganstown for five years and is still going strong. Cut spent spikes at the base to keep new ones coming.
