Digitalis canariensis   |   Canary Island Foxglove

Native to the Canary Islands is this rare wonderful gem of a plant also known as the Canary Island Foxglove. This plant is an evergreen upright shrub that blooms in the spring to early summer with rich golden orange spikes. Flowers have a reddish orange anthers that look like a spider or insect has crawled into the bloom. Plants will grow in full sun to part shade and form an upright shrub to 1.5 meters high. This species is the most frost tolerant of the canary island foxgloves and is hardy to -4°C, so in our area it is best to give it some shelter. A great talking piece in any garden.
