(Ausearnshaw) Emily Brontë is an exceptionally beautiful rose, bred by David Austin. It produces distinctive neat, flat blooms in a lovely soft pink with subtle apricot hue. The smaller central petals deepen to a rich apricot, and surround deep-set stamens. Blooms fade to a creamy white with age.
Clusters of these large and very full blooms are borne from summer into autumn. Emily Brontë boasts a strong fragrance that starts as Tea and blends into Old Rose, with delicious notes of grapefruit and lemon.
This bushy shrub reaches up to 1.25m tall with strong, upright growth. Foliage is healthy and dark green, tinged red in spring.
This rose is a perfect choice for pots, hedges and borders. Prefers full sun and will tolerate part shade well.
Following a request from the Brontë Society, David Austin Roses named this cultivar after Emily Brontë, celebrating the bicentenary of her birth in 2018. Brontë's acclaimed novel, Wuthering Heights, was published in 1847, just a year before her untimely death at the young age of 30.
