Gladiolus 'Summer Jewel'
A small-flowered gladiolus in pink, more delicate and informal than the tall florist gladies, and an excellent choice for the flower border or the cutting patch. Strong and weather-resistant, it flowers through summer on slender spikes to around 70cm, easy to weave through a mixed border or grow in a container. It will also naturalise where conditions suit, returning year after year.
Like other small-flowered gladioli, it is hardier than the big grandiflora types, so in milder gardens the corms can be left in the ground under a mulch, while in colder spots they're best lifted and stored over winter. A reliable, easy-going gladi that earns its place in the garden and the vase alike.
