Herbaceous Peony 'Lady Alexandra Duff'

A celebrated heirloom variety with large, fully double blooms that open from deep pink buds into soft blush-pink flowers, paling to cream at a ruffled centre. The main blooms are joined by smaller, semi-double side flowers that open as the central flower fades, extending the display. Beautifully fragrant and very floriferous, the flowers are carried on strong stems to around 90cm, above abundant green foliage. An excellent cut flower with a long vase life, especially if picked in bud.

Introduced in 1902 by the renowned English firm of Kelway, this is one of their finest peonies and remains among the most admired heirloom varieties over a century on. It was named for Lady Alexandra Duff, a granddaughter of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, who was eleven years old when the peony was released. It holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit, a mark of consistent quality under garden conditions. A graceful, informal, and thoroughly lovely peony for the garden or the vase.
