Hydrangea macrophylla ‘H2002’ Miss Saori   –   Mophead Hydrangea

Miss Saori is a  stunningly beautiful bicolour hydrangea, producing mounds of densely packed flower heads. Flowers are fully double, with elegantly shaped white or very light pink sepals, each of which is frosted with deep rose margins. This gives the large (12-15cm wide) rounded flower heads a delicate, watercolour-like appearance. An absolute show stopper that also makes an excellent cut flower!

Unlike other coloured Hydrangea macrophylla cultivars, the flowers of Miss Saori retain their pink colour regardless of soil pH. Flowers are also produced on both old and new growth, giving an extended flowering period that runs from early summer to mid-autumn.

This deciduous shrub has a compact and well-rounded, bushy habit. Foliage is dark green and becomes flushed with rich burgundy in spring and autumn, complementing the flowers wonderfully and giving a long season of interest.

An exquisite specimen shrub for borders and compact enough that it is suitable for large pots or containers. Great for getting some “wow” factor happening on your patio!

Miss Saori won the prestigious ‘Plant of the Year’ award on it’s debut at the 2014 RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It was bred by one of the most highly respected Hydrangea breeders, Ryoji Irie of Tokyo, Japan. An extra sweet fact is that Irie named this variety for his then-fiancée, and the two have since married.
