Hydrangea macrophylla 'Souvenir du Président Doumer'   -   Mophead Hydrangea

President Doumer has large mop head blooms held above large soft green leaves, making a charming mass display of blooms. Flower colour is blue tinged purple when grown in acidic soils or a deep pink if the soil is alkaline.

Soil can be made alkaline by adding sulphur/calcium nitrate, or made acidic by adding aluminium sulphate.

Grows as a deciduous, rounded shrub to a height of 1 to 2 meters tall and the same width.

Hydrangeas are a shade loving plant that grow best in a shady part of the garden.

Syn. Hydrangea macrophylla 'President Doumier', which is usually used in Australia.
