Paeonia 'Cora Louise' – Itoh Peony
'Cora Louise' is an elegant Itoh peony with broad white flowers marked by lavender to purple flares at the base of the petals. That cool-toned contrast gives it a cleaner, more architectural look than many pink intersectionals, and the flowers are typically displayed clearly above the mound of dark foliage.
Its value in the garden comes from poise rather than excess: strong stems, a restrained but memorable colour break, and dependable midseason flowering. In full sun and well-drained fertile soil it makes an excellent border subject where pale flowers with dark central marking can be used to punctuate greener planting.
Bred by Roger F. Anderson of Wisconsin, USA. Registered in 1986. Named for Roger's grandmother.
