Miscanthus transmorrisonensis – Taiwanese Miscanthus
A tidy ornamental grass forming a dense, evergreen clump of narrow, dark green, arching foliage that creates a fountain-like appearance in the garden. From midsummer, white plumes rise well above the foliage and persist into late autumn, providing extended seasonal interest and movement in the garden.
Unlike larger Miscanthus species, its more compact compact habit makes it suitable for smaller gardens without completely dominating adjacent plantings. It is an ideal choice for containers, mixed borders, and specimen planting where year-round foliage colour and delicate flower heads are valued. The plant thrives in full sun in moderately fertile soil and is notably drought-tolerant once established.
