Pelargonium sidoides – South African Geranium
Exotic and a little mysterious, Pelargonium sidoides is not your average pelargonium. With its velvety, silver-green leaves and sprays of deep burgundy to near-black flowers, it brings a dramatic flair to pots and borders alike. The contrast of rich blooms against soft, silvery foliage makes it look like it dressed up for a garden soirée - dark lipstick and all.
This little gem hails from South Africa and is tougher than it looks. It shrugs off dry spells, thrives in well-drained soils, and flowers for months on end. Pop it in a decorative pot for a showpiece, let it spill from a sunny window box, or tuck it into the garden where you need a touch of moody glamour. Extremely easy to grow and endlessly charming, it’s a plant that always earns a double take.
