Queenie
Queenie makes an impression. Rounded, globular buds open fully to reveal large blooms saturated in deep cerise pink, the kind of colour that genuinely glows in sunshine. Each petal is dense with pigment, and the overall effect is of a bold, modern rose with real presence in the garden.
The bush grows to 1.2–1.5 m with healthy, disease-resistant foliage that provides a strong green backdrop to those vivid flowers. Fragrance is light. The flower form is full and generous, with plenty of petals, and the colour holds well without fading too quickly.
Bred by Australian rose breeder Bruce Brundrett and lovingly named after his mother, Elizabeth Brundrett. Known throughout the Narre Warren North district as "Queenie," Elizabeth was admired for her strength of character and her community involvement through church, Red Cross, and local events. It's a fitting namesake for a rose with this much personality.
