Sedum 'Thundercloud' – Stonecrop
'Thundercloud' forms a tight, dome-shaped mound of narrow, serrated grey-green leaves, topped from late summer into autumn with billowing clusters of tiny white star-shaped flowers that take on a soft pink blush as they age. The foliage holds its colour through the growing season, so the plant reads as a neat cushion of texture well before and after it flowers.
A succulent perennial for full sun and sharp drainage, it suits gravel gardens, rockeries, dry borders and containers. It is frost hardy, and drought and heat tolerant once established. The late flowers are well visited by bees and butterflies.
Bred by Brent Horvath of Intrinsic Perennial Gardens in Illinois. It is now classified as Hylotelephium 'Thundercloud', along with the other tall border sedums.
