Additional Information

Viburnum farreri (syn. V. fragrans) is a hardy deciduous shrub with highly fragrant clusters of pink-white flowers that occur between late autumn and early spring, depending on climate, often before the new leaves. The blooming lasts for a good 8 weeks and brings welcome colour and perfume to the garden at a time when little else is in flower.

The foliage emerges bronze-tinted in spring, maturing to dark green, and finishes with warm autumn tones of red and purple, giving this plant quite a lot of ornamental value.

It thrives in a sunny to partly shaded position with moist, well-drained soil, making it an excellent choice for feature planting, screening, mixed shrub borders, or as part of a fragrant winter garden. Its tough nature and seasonal interest ensure it’s a reliable landscape shrub with minimal fuss.
